WATER AND SANITATION

At MSH Peru, we work to ensure that more families in rural areas have access to safe, sustainable water and sanitation services managed by their own communities. We know that infrastructure alone is not enough: organisation, information and commitment from all stakeholders are also needed.

That is why we support water and sanitation projects by strengthening their social and communication components: we promote community participation, a sense of ownership of services, and responsible long-term management.

We develop training and support processes for:

  • Families, so that they learn about the proper use of water, care of facilities, and hygiene practices.
  • Sanitation Services Management Boards (JASS), to improve their organisation, administration and community leadership.
  • Municipal Technical Areas (MTAs), so that local governments can provide ongoing technical support and supervision.

In this way, we contribute to ensuring that water and sanitation systems function well today and are maintained over time, improving the health and quality of life of rural communities.
